FIFTEEN BEEHIVE STUDENTS WIN AWARDS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR
Salt Lake City--Beehive Science & Technology Academy students captured 15 awards at the University of Utah Science and Engineering Fair March 20 through 22. According to the University of Utah’s website, “The University of Utah Science & Engineering Fair (formerly named SLVSEF) is an annual science and engineering competition for students in grades 5-12. Participation in science fair stimulates students’ interest in science and technology while simultaneously promoting the development of communication, decision making, evaluation of alternative solutions and critical thinking.”

As a result, Plan Bee will be going on to the state competition to be held at Weber State University on Feb. 10.

Houston, Texas—A team of students from the Utah charter school, Beehive Science and Technology Academy, captured a third-place award in the robot game at the FIRST LEGO League Competition held this past weekend in Houston, Texas. To qualify for Houston competition, Beehive’s team, named Beehive Robotics, took first place in the robot game and won the first-place Champions Award at a competition held Feb. 11 at Weber State University in Ogden.

Sandy—Two sixth grade students from Beehive Science and Technology Academy have won a High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge award during a competition held April 15. Beehive’s Timothy Holt and Allison Drennen received a special exception to compete against high school juniors and seniors at the Challenge. Holt and Drennen were the youngest students in the competition. The sixth graders were given $1,000 and the Best Prototype Award for their project, Air Scare.
