Upcoming scholarships available 2020-21

AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship (12th grade)

This $5000 scholarship is available to students who plan to enter college fall 2021, and who are interested in pursuing a degree in atmospheric or related sciences. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation. PowerBlanket Scholarship (11th-12th grade)

Two awards will be given, one for juniors ($500) and one for seniors ($1000). Applicants must be current Utah high school students, with an interest in manufacturing and engineering. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants are asked to write a 500-word essay. Additionally, seniors are required to submit a short video report on a local manufacturing company. AMS Minority Scholarship (12th grade)

This $6000 scholarship is available to minority students who plan to enter college fall 2021, and who are interested in pursuing a degree in atmospheric or related sciences. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation. Students may apply for both the minority and freshman undergraduate scholarship, but can be awarded only one of them. Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship (12th grade)

This $40,000 scholarship is available to high school seniors who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Applicants must have taken at least one computer science class in high school, have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA, and must be a US citizen or legal resident. The scholarship winner will also receive a paid summer internship with Amazon. Winners will be chosen based on academics, extra curricular involvement, leadership, experience with computer science, financial need, work experience, diversity, and short answers on the application. Young Humanitarian Award (11th-12th grade)

This scholarship worth up to $5000 is available to students who excel in giving back to their communities. Applicants must be a Utah junior or senior in high school, or enrolled full time in an undergraduate program, and must be a US citizen, legal resident, or qualify for DACA. Applicants must submit an application, two essays, a letter of recommendation by someone who has supervised your community service, a resume, and optional personal story or video. Susan Coda Memorial Scholarship (12th grade)

This scholarship is available to high school senior women who intend to attend college out of state. Applicants must have a 3.8 cumulative GPA and a high ACT/SAT score. They should demonstrate leadership abilities, participate in extracurricular activities, and be involved in community affairs. Applicants must be a US citizen, resident of the state of Utah and be accepted to a four year university outside Utah. Applicants must submit 3 letters of recommendation, the application form including an essay, transcript, ACT/SAT scores, and proof of acceptance to a college outside of Utah. Women’s Italian-American Civic League (12th grade)

This $1000 scholarship is available to high school seniors of Italian American ancestry. Two scholarships will be awarded based on ACT/SAT score, exceptional high school ability, and participation in extra-curricular activities. Applicants must submit an application form, official transcript, outline of extra-curricular activities, summary of future academic goals, and personal essay of 300 words. Men’s Italian-American Civic League (12th grade)

This $1000-$4000 scholarship is available to high school seniors of Italian American ancestry. Scholarships will be awarded based on extra-curricular involvement, three essays, high school academic performance, ACT/SAT score, and involvement with Italian cultural organizations. 

Applicants are required to submit an application form, resume, official transcript, essay (300 words) on your future goals, essay (600 words) describing how your Italian Ancestry has influenced your life, and an essay (300 words) why you are the best candidate for this scholarship. Joseph James Morelli (12th grade)

This scholarship ranges from $500-$2500, and is available to high school and college students who intend to attend college in the fall. Applicants must plan on pursuing a degree in a STEM field, and have a demonstrated learning challenge/disability of dyslexia or similar reading/language disability. Project Management Institute Scholarship (11th-12th grades)

This scholarship worth up to $2000 is available to high school juniors and seniors who are interested in project management. Applicants must upload a 5 minute video telling a story about a project you have been involved in. Finalists will be required to submit a transcript, and must be available to present their project April 8 and 10, 2021. ACLU of Utah Youth Activist Scholarship (12th grade)

This $3500 scholarship is available to seniors who are Utah residents and plan to attend college in the fall. Applicants must have a 2.5 minimum GPA and be committed to a civil liberties issue through some form of activism. America’s Freedom Festival Speech Contest (9th-12th grade)

This contest is open to all Utah high school students. Students are asked to submit a video of themselves giving a 3-5 minute speech on any topic related to the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights. Six semi-finalists will be chosen to give their speech at a Patriotic Service at BYU, and will be offered a prize ranging from $100-$600. Cyprus Credit Union Scholarship (12th grade)

This scholarship is available to Utah seniors who are members of Cyprus Credit Union, and who plan to attend college in the fall. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA average of the last two terms. Applicants must submit a one page essay answering “What attributes do you possess that will make you successful in the future and why?”, and a short video on “If I could teach high school students about money or finances, it would be…”, as well as a transcript, letter of acceptance to college, and list of other scholarships and financial aid received. Utah Independent Agents (UIA) Scholarship (12th grade)

This scholarship worth up to $2000 is available to Utah seniors who have maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA and are involved in extracurricular activities. Fifteen total scholarships will be awarded. Financial need will be considered. Applicants must submit an application and high school transcript. Glenn L Rudd Foundation (12th grade)

This scholarship worth approximately $1000 may be accompanied by a gifted laptop or printer. Applicants must be of Polynesian descent.
