Enrollment Procedure for Currently Enrolled Students

Parents of currently enrolled students will be requested to submit Re-enrollment forms, for each student returning for the next school year, in the month of November. Parents who submit the Re-enrollment form before the set deadline will be guaranteed admission for their students for the upcoming school year.

General Enrollment Policy and Procedure

Beehive Science & Technology Academy is an open-enrollment public charter school. Therefore, it is open to all eligible students on a space available basis and does not discriminate in its admissions policies or practices on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, age, religion, ancestry, or athletic performance. All parents wishing to enroll their students in BSTA must complete and return an Application for Enrollment. First preference in admissions is given to currently enrolled students. Second preference is given to children of founding members and staff of the school. Third preference is given to siblings of students already enrolled in the school. The remaining spaces will be filled by open enrollment applicants. Open enrollment begins in December and ends on the day before the lottery date. If, at the end of the open enrollment period, the number of Open Enrollment Applicants exceeds the number of seats available for any grade, a lottery will be held on specified date in the month of February to determine which applicants will be enrolled in that grade. If, at the end of the open enrollment deadline, there are still openings, we will continue accepting applications until all openings for new students are filled. All the parents of the students selected in the lottery will be contacted following the lottery with additional information. The parents of a child selected for the enrollment must accept the position by returning the completed registration forms and fees by the set date. If the registration forms and fees are not timely completed and received, the enrollment will be terminated and the next student on the waiting list will be considered for enrollment on that slot. If parents thereafter desire to enroll their student at BSTA, their application will be placed at the end of any existing wait-list for the grade in which the student desires to enroll. Enrolled students are required to take Math placement test. Parents of these students need to call the front office to make an appointment for their students to take the test.  Testing is usually scheduled during the summer prior to the school year.

BSTA will close its enrollment by the end of September for current academic year and will reopen the enrollment to fill the open spots a week before the start of the second semester and will not enroll students thereafter. The school administration may enroll a student beyond these dates under special circumstances at their discretion[1]

Note 1: Applicants who are not admitted for a school year will be required to re-apply the following year.  Moreover, the waiting list for a school year will not carry over into the following school year.

Note 2: Any student who has been expelled from any school, including BSTA, during the preceding 12 months will be denied enrollment (Utah State Code 53A-11-904(3)).
