Salt Lake City, UT – Jennifer Stout, Elementary STEM Specialist at Beehive Science and Technology Academy, received the 2025 Civil Air Patrol National ACE (Aerospace Connections in Education) Schoolwide STEM Specialist of the Year Award. Stout was recognized for her work as the K-5th grade STEM teacher at Beehive Academy and integrating the Civil Air Patrol ACE curriculum among all grade levels.

“Jennifer has led her students through the ACE program, delivering dynamic lessons on the forces of flight, space exploration, weather, and air pressure—all grounded in real-world applications,” said Vickie Peterson, Beehive Academy Elementary Principal. “Her instruction goes far beyond the textbook. When I observed her classroom, students were immersed in hands-on investigations and lively discussions that brought aerospace science to life in ways that were both age-appropriate and intellectually rich. What makes Jennifer truly stand out is her ability to take complex STEM concepts and make them accessible, exciting, and meaningful for every student. She brings aerospace topics into the classroom with contagious enthusiasm, blending scientific rigor with creativity. Her students are not only learning about the science of flight and space, they’re developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for future innovators.”

Stout said, “It is such an honor to receive the ACE National STEM Specialist Award!  The ACE Program is amazing and provides academic, physical education and character lessons for every grade that are well written and standards based. These academic lessons offer a variety of hands-on activities, which I integrated into my teaching to engage students in deeper understanding of flight and space concepts. The ACE program also provided age appropriate planes or rocket ships for every student in each grade that helped teach them about the forces of flight. Beehive generously funded the supplies that allowed me to teach students a wide range of flight concepts. As they built kites, windsocks, various types of planes and rockets, and experimented with bubbles and balloons, they explored important principles such as Bernoulli’s theory of flight, the fundamentals of aerodynamics and many other effects of air pressure. This was a wonderful program, and I am excited to teach it again next year.  I am honored to be named the 2025 ACE National STEM Specialist of the Year!”

Hanifi Oguz, Executive Director of Beehive Science and Technology Academy, added “Ms. Stout is well deserving of this national award. The administration and staff at Beehive congratulate her on this great accomplishment.”
