BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY ANNOUNCES THIRTEENTH ANNUAL UTAH STEM EXPO SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2026 AT MOUNTAIN AMERICA EXPO CENTER

Sandy, Utah— The Thirteenth Annual Utah STEM Expo will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Mountain America Expo Center, located at 9575 S. State Street in Sandy, UT.  The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public with free admission. Beehive Science and Technology Academy charter school, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, hosts and organizes the annual expo. This year’s expo is sponsored by The US Navy (navy.com).

Over 4,000 visitors attended the Utah STEM Expo in 2025. This year, students from over 20 Utah schools grades Kindergarten – 11th will showcase their STEM (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) projects alongside many STEM Businesses, Non-profit organizations and Colleges. Attending participants include Spy Hop, Rio Tinto, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, Living Planet Aquarium, Hawkwatch, Red Butte Gardens, Weber State, Westminster and UVU.

“This unique event provides a venue for students from across the state to showcase their STEM projects while connecting schools to the community, students to professionals, and generate interest and excitement for STEM in general,” said Beehive STEM Coordinator/Department Chair Kerrie Upenieks who oversees the expo.  “Students Kindergarten – 4th grade present in groups as well as individual presentations, while students 5th – 11th grade conduct solo presentations. It is a fun and exciting event for all ages to attend!”

Beehive Science and Technology Academy Director Hanifi Oguz added, “Beehive is proud to host this important annual event for Utah students to showcase their hard work in STEM academics. The Utah STEM Expo is designed to cover all areas of academics such as coding, robotics, chemistry, and the arts. We are excited and appreciative for The US Navy sponsoring this year’s event, which is a great venue to highlight student accomplishments in these important academic areas in which Beehive Academy’s curriculum has been uniquely designed to provide students with a solid foundation.”
