Beehive Science and Technology Academy Celebrates International Day on April 16

Students from Beehive Science and Technology Academy are given the opportunity each year to celebrate International Day by choosing a country to research and then present their reports to the school and general community. Students traditionally choose a country that is part of their personal heritage and research key facts and traditions from the country. Presentations include students sharing traditional clothing from the country as well as food samples and displays of ethnic music and dancing. Map locations are also referenced in their reports to explain where the country is located and geographical references to surrounding areas.

“Students are not required to present, but many look forward to doing it every year,” said Judy Wald, Beehive Academy Parent Communication and Volunteer Coordinator. “This is a great opportunity for the students and it is done in a way that everyone is learning, but they are also having fun as they participate in this event.”

Beehive Science and Technology Academy Executive Director, Hanifi Oguz, said, “We take great strides in providing our students with an educational foundation in humanities and social science as well as math, science and technology. At the same time, our administration strives to make learning enjoyable for them and have the opportunity to explore diverse and multicultural societies. This event has turned out to be one of most popular activities we do in the school year.”

This year’s event will be held on April 16, 2024 from 2:30 to 4:00p.m. at Beehive Science and Technology Academy, located at 2165 East 9400 South in Sandy, UT. All parents and students are welcome to attend and learn about the cultures of many Beehive Academy students. The International Day Celebration is sponsored in part by the National Honor Society (NHS).
