BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY NINTH GRADE STUDENT WINS GRAPHIC DESIGN CONTEST FOR UPCOMING UTAH STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION SUMMER CONFERENCE

Sandy, Utah—A Beehive Science and Technology Academy charter school ninth grade student, Cade Langsdon, has won first place in a graphic design contest sponsored by the Utah State Board of Education.  Langsdon’s two graphics will be used to help promote the Utah State Board of Education’s Business and Marketing, and Information Technology Education summer conference for Utah educators.

 

     The design contest was open to Utah middle/junior high and high school students.  Langsdon’s graphics will be featured on the summer conference informational webpage, welcome poster and thank-you cards.  One of Langsdon’s graphics will be used to highlight the business and marketing portion of the conference, and the other one will be used for the informational technology portion. Langsdon has won a one-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, which was donated by Adobe.

     The rules of the contest specified that the graphics had to use the theme, “I Have an Idea.”  No clip art or stock illustrations were allowed.

About Beehive Science and Technology Academy

     Beehive Science and Technology Academy is a tuition-free charter school located at 830 E. 9400 S. in Sandy, Utah.  Beehive offers classes for grades six through 12.  As of March 2016, total enrollment was 300 students. 

    Beehive was recently named Charter School of the Year 2016 by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.  It has also received Platinum STEM School Designation (the highest designation possible) by the Utah State Board of Education and the STEM Action Center for the 2015-2016 school year. 

     In 2015, Beehive was included in Newsweek America’s Top High Schools list.  In Newsweek America’s category of “Beating the odds—top schools for low-income students,” Beehive was listed as number 57 in the entire United States.  (In 2014, it was recognized as number 231.)  Beehive was also named Charter School of the Year 2016 by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.
