BEEHIVE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TO HOLD SPAGHETTI DINNER/AUCTION FUNDRAISER

Proceeds to help Beehive’s FIRST Lego League team go to Houston for world finals

 

Beehive Science and Technology Academy, will hold a spaghetti dinner/auction fundraiser Friday, March 24. 

 

     The event will be held at the school’s lunch room (830 E. 9400 S., building A).  Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and a magician will perform at 7:30 p.m.

     Advance tickets may be purchased at the school or through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beehive-robotics-spaghetti-dinner-tickets-32838740557?aff=utm_source%3Deb_email%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_campaign%3Dnew_event_email&utm_term=eventurl_text.  Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for kids or $35 for a family of five.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $13 for adults, $10 for kids or $40 for a family of five.

     Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund Beehive’s FIRST Lego League team’s upcoming trip to Houston in April.  Beehive’s team, named Beehive Robotics, took first place in the robot game and won the first place Champions Award at a competition held Feb. 11 at Weber State University in Ogden. 

     The competition requires that students build and program LEGO robots designed to complete specific tasks.  Forty-seven teams from Utah competed, and a total of nine trophies were awarded.  Beehive Robotics will be the only team from Utah to go to Houston for this international event.    

     Last year, a team from Beehive tied for 20^th in the world in the FIRST LEGO League Competition in St. Louis.  The Beehive team was the only team from Utah at the competition, which included teams from every state and 40 countries—108 teams in all.     

     The international event has been held since 1998.

     Beehive Science and Technology Academy students on the 2017 team going to Houston are: Trinity Mauer (9^th grade), Asim Kablan (7^th grade), Austin Grant (8^th grade), Gaireth Castleton (8^th grade), Kaden Gordon (8^th grade), Moises Molina (8^th grade), Sam Gwynn (8^th grade) and Zack Nelson (8^th grade).

     The Beehive Science and Technology Academy Lego League Competition head coach is Annie Drennan and Lorie Mauer is the assistant coach.  Drennan and Mauer are parents of Beehive Science and Technology Academy students.

     The team is now seeking donations to help offset costs associated with the upcoming trip to Houston.  In addition to contributing to the team through the dinner, people can make donations through gofundme or directly by sending checks to Beehive Science and Technology Academy.
